With the same inmind, we are delighted to share with you some of the highlights of our practice during the course of the past 12 months and thank you for all of your support throughout. We will collectively get through all of the challenges of COVID-19 and with the same in mind, we are here for you every step of the way. Our team remains at the forefront of changes in the energy sector, including energy storage projects in emerging markets and ground-breaking renewables projects. During the last 12 months, we have seen a wave of large IPP projects being released to bid in the Middle East and are delighted to have worked with our clients on such significant mandates. In addition to our leading expertise in the energy sector, our Chambers Global ranked corporate / commercial practice has continued to advise a diverse range of clients across the Middle East, guiding them through all manner of contractual, regulatory, corporate and employment mandates, particularly during COVID-19. In 2019 we added to our infrastructure projects offering with the addition of Andrej Kormuth . Andrej has significant experience as a projects and infrastructure lawyer, including the latest wave of Saudi Arabian renewables, water and waste water projects and Qatar’s first renewables IPP. Clint Steyn re-joined the Dubai office as regional head of projects after serving two years as general counsel at Alcazar Energy. He has over 20 years of M&A, project development and project finance experience. Clint’s return to the firm, coupled with the arrival of Andrej, enables the firm to offer clients an unrivalled projects practice that builds on the firm’s significant experience in energy and infrastructure markets throughout the Middle East and further afield. In addition to Clint and Andrej’s arrival we are also pleased to announce that TomSwarbrick was promoted to the firmpartnership, effective January 1, 2020. Tom has been with the firm for over 5 years. He is a construction lawyer with a focus on energy and infrastructure and particular experience in the Middle East and Africa adding to our already winning projects team.

Being resident in the UAE since 2008, Chris Williams uses his keen understanding of the region to guide his leadership of Bracewell’s Dubai office, as well as his own active corporate practice. Clint Steyn’s practice focuses on international energy projects, with particular focus on the acquisition, development and project financing of independent power projects in the Middle East and Africa regions. Clint’s experience includes advising on all aspects of power project developments, bids, acquisitions and disposals in various jurisdictions around the world. Clint’s understanding of the needs of in-house counsel is supported by his time served serving as regional general counsel for International Power plc, a major international energy company and Alcazar Energy.
